Talent Watch: Granit Xhaka

Granit Xhaka may not be a household name yet, but the Swiss international is easily one of the brightest talents in world football.

At only the age of 19, Xhaka has established himself as a regular first-team member of FC Basel, one of the most successful clubs in the Swiss Super League. He has also already a key member in the Switzerland National Team.

On 18 May 2012, Basel announced on their homepage that Xhaka had agreed terms with Lucien Favre’s Borussia Mönchengladbach. After medical checks were completed, the teenager signed a five-year with the club. The transfer fee was not disclosed by Mönchengladbach, but is estimated to be in the region of €8.5 million.
